Original People Acknowledgement

Original People Acknowledgement

Since we have moved, we would like to take the time now to recognize the original people on whose land our new home and town sits:

We live on the unceded land of the Clackamas (KLAK-a-mus), Cowlitz (KOU-lits), and many other nations of “The Big River” (now referred to as the Columbia River). Today, people from these tribal groups have become part of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, Confederated Tribes of Siletz (SIGH-lets) Indians, as well as the Chinook (shuh-NUK) Nation. Additionally, we acknowledge all other tribes who have traditional connections to these lands, and displaced Indigenous Peoples who reside in Portland today. If you too are a non-Indigenous person living in Portland, OR, we invite you to join us in donating to the NAYA Family Center to support the work of and for Native American youth and community.
