Putting Down Roots... Literally

Putting Down Roots... Literally

Last May, we set out to make our dreams for the front yard a reality. We reached out to Ben Bowen of Ross NW Watergardens with a list of ideas and he sketched them out. After several back-and-forths, we settled on a plan and scheduled the work to start in December 2022. Over the past several months, our outdoor living space has transformed in all of the best ways - some of them unexpectedly!

It was always in the plans to get rid of the grass and old retaining wall in the front yard, to be replaced by pollinator-friendly plants, a more natural look, and great lighting! That light even extended to the backyard to feature our lovely trees back there.

In December, as the work was in progress and we were away with family, we started dreaming up parties and hangouts in our backyard and realized that we were in need of more livable space in the yard when it was raining, which is when we came up with the idea for the extended patio cover. From beginning to end, we spent about one week to collect bids, another week to decide, and had about a week from booking to construction. Our experience with Crown Patio was great, who even got the construction done in a single day! It was wildly fast and oh-so-satisfying! (Let us know if you might pursue a project with them and want a discount.)

Unfortunately, the next day, we found that some of the towering hedges next to it were actually dead, once all the ivy was removed. We continued with Ross NW Watergardens to get them removed and in their place and new fence and lovely plants to fill the space. To top it off, our yard now feels WAY bigger as well!
